The rain in Abu Dhabi
The umbrellas that you will see in stores in Abu Dhabi are not used to shelter from the rain but from the sun! In fact, in Abu Dhabi, the rain is a rarity, which can appear between November and March. A “famous rain” remembered in the annals of Abu Dhabi is that of March 2009, during a memorable Coldplay concert: fans thought about a special effect, the rain as a culmination of the excellent performance. Unfortunately, the event was not repeated with the same outcome on December 2011. And not only for the absence of rain.
Wind and sandstorms in Abu Dhabi
The wind in Abu Dhabi often has a pleasant temperature but always brings dust and sand of the desert: a scarf, or something similar, may be sufficient to protect yourself, unless it is a sandstorm. The sandstorms in Abu Dhabi tend to occur in hot months (late May to early October). In those cases, better not defy the weather, even because the visibility is very low.
Air conditioning in Abu Dhabi
The air conditioning in Abu Dhabi, as well as in all public places, it is also on taxis, buses and, sometimes, at bus stops (for example, at the bus stop in front of the Madinat Zayed Shopping Center). We all appreciate this, but sometimes the difference between outside and inside is too much. Always carry a “protective armor” (a pashmina or a sweater), even in summer, and always try to ask to the staff, with all due courtesy, if it is possible turn down the air conditioning or change your place.
